Five thousand years ago, there was a great schism in Heaven. Infuriated by the growing popularity of Heaven’s Original Rock Star, Seytan, and outraged over the disastrous consequences of angels procreating with mortals, God cast Seytan and his followers out of their celestial home. Now, these fallen angels walk the Earth as embittered, destructive demons wearing human disguises, manipulating unsuspecting mortals, and wreaking havoc wherever possible. Still enraged by the unfairness of their exile, Seytan and his cronies embark on a multi-pronged, coordinated campaign to destroy the world. Holding positions of influence in the spheres of politics, economics, technology, science, and entertainment, they set out to overthrow governments, cause famines, spread highly infectious and incredibly deadly diseases, decimate the world population, cripple the world economy, expedite the destruction of the environment, corrupt morality, and eliminate all sources of hope. To accomplish this, they enlist the help of the Antichrist and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Concerned by the rapidly declining conditions developing across the globe, the archangels must develop a strategy to save Earth and humanity. But millennia of witnessing tragedies, injustice, and massacres on a mass scale have some of the archangels questioning if God is still around. Even angels have difficulty maintaining their faith when the Divine assumes the role of a disinterested bystander. When Seytan’s plans include a stealthy attack that devastates the angel population, the archangel Michael—who happens to be a military strategist, an expert in hand-to-hand combat, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff—interprets this as a declaration of war. The stage is set for an epic, apocalyptic battle of good versus evil.
An experienced trial attorney, DeVita uses quick-witted humor, clever satire, and creative symbolism to deliver a stinging yet accurate portrayal of modern culture. Although classified as a sci-fi fantasy, this book offers an in-depth review of international political history, colonialism, the evolution of technology, and the chronology of biological warfare as a backdrop for current global affairs and today’s political climate. Comical depictions of characters based on easily recognizable, well-known political figures create a unique writing style of informative levity. DeVita skillfully defuses controversial, polarizing issues such as vaccinations, climate change, racism, homelessness, immigration, religion, politics, and governmental malfeasance with the perfect blend of comedy and irony. The author likens superheroes in comics to ancient mythology and modern-day religion. He then offers a totally irreverent and highly entertaining alternative interpretation of biblical events.
The book challenges readers to question the conflicting images of God as a benevolent, loving father and a jealous, angry deity capable of destroying the world in a fit of temper. The fallen angels exiled simply for loving mortals are poignantly symbolic of the rejection experienced by those whose relationships deviate from societal norms. The author provides intelligent discussions of complex topics like artificial intelligence and quantum computing in a way that is both relatable and easy to understand. A recurring theme is the detrimental, psychosis-inducing effect of childhood trauma and abuse. Most importantly, DeVita drives home the powerful message that destroying others out of greed, hatred, and vengeance only leads to self-destruction. Sci-fi meets political satire and social commentary to create a fun, thought-provoking conversation on the current state of the world.
