"Your life does not have to be witnessed to matter. The things that you do matter."

Driven and passionate, fifty-three-year-old Moirin Garrett has dedicated her life to her family's energy company, Garrett Diversified. As the chief operations officer, she works long hours to ensure it runs smoothly while also guaranteeing the company stays true to its founding principles of eco-friendly energy solutions. She has given up plans for a family of her own in pursuit of bettering her great-grandfather's legacy. As the current CEO nears retirement, Moirin feels she is in a solid position to take his role. However, unexpected roadblocks begin to crop up, and she finds herself spiraling into an all-consuming quest to steer the company back on track.

Enter Jace: an outdoorsy, practical cowboy who works as a State of Colorado brand inspector, a man completely different from others Moirin has dated. Their attraction is instant, and as they begin spending more time together, Moirin begins re-evaluating her life purpose. As pressures begin to mount at work, Moirin finds solace in Jace's easy, uncomplicated presence—all the more important when tragedy strikes, and long-buried family secrets are brought to light.

Herman has written an incredibly captivating novel that centers around family, relationships, and legacy. The author beautifully breathes life into her characters, making them irresistibly sympathetic and complex. Although Moirin's workaholic tendencies are tempered by Jace's easygoing personality, they are not written as one-dimensional caricatures but rather as multifaceted, engaging personas. Readers can easily relate to Moirin's struggles as she fights for the company and job she loves while remaining true to her values, and as she questions the legacy she has created. This novel will certainly delight readers with an enticing plot, memorable characters, and unexpected plot twists.
