"Problems are part of everyone’s journey; they simply need to be addressed and solved."

The loss of both of his parents when he turned seventeen hit Christopher Martin hard. He was an introverted young man, but had two close friends, Andrea and Hector, who helped him navigate his way through a thicket of grief. By the time he graduated from college, Christopher's intelligence guided him to the top 25% of his graduating class. However, he would be at a disadvantage as the larger investment firms tended to look down their nose at this scrappy kid from Maine.

Christopher secured a job at a start-up investment firm, where he advanced through the ranks to an executive position. However, once he balked at a deal that seemed to skirt the ethical borders, he was quickly cashiered. Christopher was in a tailspin until the day the call came from his Uncle Frederick, who came to him with an opportunity to advise a group known as The Guild. Christopher would research a plan that not only appealed to The Guild's leadership but would also bring Christopher into the fold of a group with wealth, influence, and power.

The bulk of this exhaustive and superlative narrative unfolds during the turbulent years of 2016-2021, during which the topics of disinformation, fake news, and government oversight of big business and other entities are explored. While Christopher shows himself to be a man driven by ambition, he values his close friendships with Andrea and Hector, who ultimately factor into his future. Christopher's moving story is as much about how the loss of his parents left a lasting mark on him as it is about his ascent within the The Guild and whether he will sacrifice his ethical integrity in pursuit of wealth and power. Fans of books like The Devil's Advocate and films like Wall Street will enjoy this brilliant novel.
