"On warmer winter nights she would sneak around the campground for food. When Phoebe Ann slept, she always dreamed about those sparkling, tasty candy treats."

Phoebe Ann is a friendly masked bandit who enjoys raiding picnic baskets at night. She loves sweet treats and candies. One night, Phoebe Ann sees something bright and sparkly fall from the sky. She believes it is a sweet treat, and so she sets out on a long journey. Soon she falls asleep, and she has some strange dreams. When she wakes, she is hungry, and she soon meets porcupines, bears, and skunks. These new encounters lead her to make choices and figure out what she wants and what she needs from her new environment. Her journey, however, leads her to a new home, where she endures a different season and discovers a variety of treats that delight her.

Phoebe Ann is a fun character whose adventurous soul will inspire the book's audience to embark on their own escapades. She is also an inspiration due to her kind treatment of others. For example, when Phoebe Ann encounters the porcupines, the bears, and the skunks, the situations could easily turn into conflicts. However, Phoebe Ann adeptly and respectfully navigates each circumstance. In a way, too, Phoebe Ann's pursuit of her sweet treat-filled dreams encourages youngsters to dream big and set goals. Phoebe Ann's pursuit of the shooting star will inspire kids to pursue their goals and aspirations accordingly. Thus, this book is a fun-filled read that offers children many lessons about being themselves, respecting others, and pursuing the interesting and sometimes unexpected paths that make their lives wildly beautiful, meaningful, and fruitful for themselves and others.
