Robinson has created a moving book that will speak to readers from all walks of life. This collection of poetry deals with many subjects, but it notably addresses the topic of grief and how to deal with the resulting loss. “Wait for me in Heaven” is one of the most emotional poems in the collection, but while it will make readers tear up, it will also give them some comfort. The losses aren’t always about death either, as Robinson writes about a father who left early on in her life. Then there is the poem “Not All Loss is Death” that goes right to the point, discussing addiction and how it affects those closest to it.
Since it deals with such hard themes, it might be easy to think this is a collection of morose poetry, but that’s not the case. This book also has plenty of love and passion, like the back-to-back poems “Curl Up By My Side” and “Kiss My Lips As I Sleep," where desire drips from the pages like pain does on others.
Robinson gives a perspective on what it is to be human and the human spirit. Life isn’t always perfect, but Robinson’s work asks, why not grasp life before it’s too late? Instead of wishing for tomorrow, one should embrace life now with loved ones. In general, the collection prompts readers to reflect. The title is also perfect, because things such as death, grief, addiction, past traumas, etc., are often left unspoken. Robinson gives voice to some of life’s weightier topics in this emotional work.
