"Jake sensed his life was about to slam into a vast and sweeping change."

Jake Kessler was a highly regarded journalist, but when his investigations began to reach politically connected billionaires, threats were made against him and his family, and he was relegated to working for any newspaper that would take him. When Jake meets Luna, his life soon undergoes a radical alteration. Luna Ochoa is a data analyst who used to work for the FBI. Her employment was terminated at the behest of the current administration. Nowadays, she and her brother keep tabs on government information through hacking and are disturbed by the current direction the world is heading, especially concerning the government's intended use of artificial intelligence. Luna works for a benevolent CEO named Leo Montoya, who believes AI can be utilized to reshape the government, with the voices of the masses seeking change. However, the surveillance state is onto Jake, Luna, and their people, and the government plans to destroy all of them first.

In this intriguing, dramatic narrative, a group of disaffected rebels set out to upend a corrupt and broken system and reboot the government. Jake has regained purpose in his life with the discovery of the work being done by Luna. Jake represents the crusading journalist who inadvertently becomes part of the story, becoming immersed in a larger-than-life story. The transformation of Luna from a loyal government foot soldier to freedom fighter has already occurred at the story's inception, but her charismatic fearlessness grows throughout the book. Jake and Luna represent the face of patriotism, whereas their adversaries, such as administration official Kevin Phillips, merely engage in virtue signaling. While serving as a thinly veiled shot at the current administration, this dystopian novel is impactful and provides many salient points about the devolution of government and the pitfalls of AI.
