Cut & See: Activity Book 3
by Vitaliy M. Serebryanskiy

"This unique and simple way of creating everyday objects into geometric shapes is fun and interactive for kids."

Serebryanskiy's activity book for children, Cut & See, is a fun way to engage a child's imagination through the act of play. The activity books gives a series of colored pictures on each page such as a tiger, a ship, a violin, a sword, a strawberry, a book, and a basketball. But all these pictures are only half of the full image. The idea is that a child cuts out a page from the book, folds it in a special way, cuts the image out, and then is able to decorate the other side of the image, which is blank, anyway that they want. Cut & See offers children a way to use their hands to create something as they do all the folding and cutting, and engages their imagination as they are tasked with filling in the image and completing it.

If there is one fault to be found in this activity book is that the instructions are somewhat difficult to follow. Although the author uses both written and pictorial instructions, there is not quite enough detail about where to cut and not cut. The written and pictorial instructions are not found on the same page which also adds to some confusion. It may be difficult for younger children to figure it out on their own, and as such a parent would have to show them how and where to cut. But for older children the joy of discovering how to complete the project of folding and cutting would add to their sense of accomplishment. For children above the age of five, Cut & See is a great way for them to exercise their creativity and expand their imaginations all through the physicals acts of folding and cutting.
